To ThinkPerfect is to see that you have thoughts but you are not your thoughts. To notice that you have a thinking mind and your are not your thinking mind. The problem is not that we have an ego/thinking mind, the problem is that we are identified with it. This is the root misconception that creates almost all other misconceptions or problems.
Meditation is first the practice of dis-engaging from your ego-thinking-chatter-mind. Since you can't turn your mind off, daily practice of disengaging from your thoughts helps you recognize when your ego chatter mind is active in your daily life, then you can disengage from it or stop thinking or ignore it so you can be present in the moment with a quiet mind.
EGO IS LIKE AN ORGANIC MACHINE which can only record and play back but CONSCIOUSNESS IS ALL KNOWING SPIRIT
When you are present in the moment you are coming/acting from CONSCIOUSNESS not ego. Consciousness is the the real you that has all the solutions, ideas, imagination and intuition. The ego is none of these. You, the real you, rarely talks out loud to you inside your head. The ego constantly chatters out loud to you inside your head. Seeing the ego as something you have and NOT who you are puts you on the path to enlightenment, it is the first step.
Freedom from being identified with your ego mind is the ultimate freedom. Living in the moment is always alive, fresh, beautiful and satisfying in and of itself. Inner peace [quiet mind] is the primary goal because then you are in the present moment where all possibilities exist. From the present moment anything is possible.
