In 1972 I dropped out of my successful computer carrier because I was not happy or satisfied inside. I had been working a lot more then 40 hours a week and spending 20 to 30 hours of that sleeping in airplanes between offices, I was burned out. I traded my Corvette in on a VW CAMPER and ended up at Esalen Institute in Big Sur. Then I started to understand what the Summer of Love 1967 was all about. "The Inner Creates The Outer" Hermes
Shortly after I took a series of classes there and during one weekend, fasted for a day and got a life changing massage from Kenny La Bonk. Masterfully Kenny managed to disconnect or un-hook my ego or chatter mind for about 24 hours (without drugs). To say the least it was an empowering and enlightening experience, of course I didn’t know what had happened then.
What it did do was give me a direction for my life, a focus. I decided to do whatever was necessary to live from that place. The place of a “quiet mind”. All I really knew for sure was when I was in “that place” my problems were all unimportant and they were situations that would eventually require some attention.
Specifically I realized during my “24 hours” that my car still needed work and the rent was due but I was happy, content, and very peaceful. That experience launched me on a lifelong career of learning and teaching others what I had learned. I subsequently took many classes at Esalen Institute,( they are on the web www.esalen.com and actually lived there for the better part of a year.
I discovered that I had a gift of assimilating complicated or esoteric spiritual and religious information and then passing it on (teaching) in a way that most people could understand and comprehend. I was 'translating' esoteric spiritual teaching into practical applications that people could use in their daily lives.
In the early 70’s I took a $10,000 Awareness Counselor Training Program from Vern Black. The first step of which was to be processed by him and another Awareness Counselor through the entire program. It was to say the least a profound experience. Then a year of weekly visits with Vern to review my interactions with my clients that I was taking through the Awareness Counseling Process myself.
Eventually I stopped using the Awareness Counseling Processes. Instead I developed something I call THOUGHT MANAGEMENT and have been teaching that mostly one on one for twenty years (my primary occupation and life’s work). A few years ago one of my long time clients went to JFK University in Orinda and took their transpersonal psychology degree course. She returned to say it was identical to what I had taught her and had difficulty believing I had never even talked to those people.
I have stayed with one on one for twenty years because it is very powerful, effective and pays the rent. I have done some groups but always found the one on one more powerful. In Palm Springs, CA I have spent a great deal of time re-creating my work so it would work in a group or class situation.
I have self-published two books: THOUGHT MANAGEMENT © 2005, MINDMASTER © 2005. Both of which sold out every time I reprinted them. The books are currently available on my web site www.ThinkPerfect.com as are two more: A LOVING LIFE © 2005 and ILLUSIONS WE LIVE IN EVERYDAY © 2005 BY Ross Todd.
I had a bi-monthly TV show on the free City Vision cable channel for about 4 years basically teaching empowerment and an enlightened perspective, it was well received.
My primary purpose is to deepen my enlightenment and share that process with everybody that will listen. I firmly believe that when people use the principles I teach that it makes a profound difference in their lives. Their smiles and the light in their eyes are worth more then all the money in the world.
My hobbies are building computers, photography, web design, and a lot of ocean sailing.
From my perspective the solution to war, disease, death, poverty, and unhappiness, disease, and literally everything is enlightenment. The simple explanation of enlightenment is first discovering you are an immortal spirit and you currently have a body and a mind and part of that mind is your ego. Then by dis-identifying with your ego you discover the real you: consciousness which is a deep inner connection to your higher self which will empower you and solve all problems.
1975
Lived at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, participated many classes, and “hung
out” with the Staff and seminar leaders.
1977 Built Isolation Tanks after studying with John Lilly and other transformation
guru’s
1979 Took E.S.T. and then worked on Werner’s sailboat and sailed
with him
1980 Studied Spirituality and religion in depth, many, many classes,
1982 Certified as “Awareness Counselor” after a one year and
a $10,000 training course.
1983 Merged spiritual techniques into my Awareness Counseling techniques
and renamed my work Thought Management ©
1978 Wrote and self-published my first book: THOUGHT MANAGEMENT ©
it sold out every time I reprinted it
1979 One of my clients/students started a church that ran for 14 years
[Matt Garrigan: Radiant Light]. He also started monthly Intensives which
he dedicated to me
1980 One of my clients/students went to JFK university in Orinda and took
their Transpersonal Psychology training class and told me that it was
exactly the same as I was doing/teaching. I have basically been ‘paying
the rent by doing one on one coaching for about 20 years.
1995 I have done a number of seminars the most recent of which was “Eagle
Flight”
1999 My second book “MINDMASTER’ [previously titled “The Mind, A Radical Perspective] is being sold on my web site www.thinkperfect.com
2005 Two more e-books are now available: A LOVING LIFE © 2005 and ILLUSIONS WE LIVE IN EVERYDAY © 2005 BY Ross Todd.
2006 A home study course in spirituality and transformation called LIVING IN THE MOMENT AND KNOWING YOURSELF available on CD-ROM with over 1,000 PowerPoint slides.
April of 2006 I moved from San Francisco to Palm Springs, CA.
